Building a Business Plan and the Creation of the First (Deep Sub) Beats

Hello,

A couple of weeks ago i had my first meeting with a business industry professional; Richard Clarke. He made me focus on the specific questions which will guide me on way to starting my own company.

The day after this meeting i felt inspired to start working on the creative side of the business, the creation of the beats. The first beat i have created for deep sub beats is called "All My Secrets" and it is a Dancehall beat. Dancehall was not one of three featured genres that i chose to create beats for, however it has very close ties with both Hip Hop and R&B due it its origins and its fanbase. Yesterday one the 20th of January i had my second meeting with Richard Clarke. The aim of this meeting was to make a start on a business plan for Deep Sub Beats. The first step to forming a business plan was to decide how funds were going to be raised for the company.

The way in which we settled upon doing this was using a fundraising site called IndieGoGo. IndieGoGo is a unique fundraising website because the way money is raised on the site is through the selling of shares in your company, not through the standard use of a donation system, which ends up meeting a target sum.

Richard advised that selling 25% of the company's shares to IndieGoGo investors with a clause to buy the shares back for twice their original investment is the avenue to take when seeking investors. With this in mind Richard and I created an outline for the rest of the shareholders which included, his company as an investor and many other roles ranging from freelance graphic designers to social media reps. When a mock up of these share splits were decided upon we were able to create a company evaluation.

With the evaluation complete, we organised a meeting for two weeks time to create a presentation designed to attract investors.

Thank you for reading and take care,

Jacob Baggs.
